Tough Love Tests: Navigating Uncertainty in Social Ventures

Too many firms use conventional planning to plan, monitor and manage their highly uncertain but very high potential intrapreneurial ventures. This causes them to either reject high potential ventures, deem them as too risky, or make predictions about a venture’s potential based on flawed assumptions leading to irreparable damage.

Participants will use a disciplined process, featured in The Social Entrepreneur's Playbook written by Ian MacMillan, to systematically uncover, test, and revise the assumptions behind a new venture at the lowest possible cost. This workshop will prepare attendees to craft simple, low-cost strategies to avoid these kinds of traps by increasing the number of high potential ventures pursued, while minimizing risk.
